It has been designed especially for students who are pursuing the MA in Global & International Studies. This seminar will explore global economic, political, social and cultural trends, and the rise of international non-governmental humanitarian organizations in response to such transnational forces as the increase in population mobility and diasporas, the erosion of national cultures, the resistance to political authority, the challenge of global communications media, the advent of transnational environmental issues, the emergence of a global illicit drug and sex trade, and the increase in antiglobal protest and religious conflict.
